A Prayer for Families

O God almighty, so tender and merciful,
We praise you that
From you every family in heaven and on earth
receives its name.
Pour your love into our family life.
Enliven our blessings with your joy.
Empower us with your strength
in our times of struggle.
Guide us with your wisdom when we are perplexed.
Stir us with your purpose when we are complacent.
Give us your patience when we are frustrated with one another.
In the delight of your love,
May we always honour and enjoy every member of our families,
In their successes and in their failures.
And may our family be part of your blessing to our neighbours.
This we pray to the honour and glory of your name,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Welcome to the Canadian Mothers’ Union (MU) Website. May you find it informative and spiritually encouraging.

These are times of great flux and change in both society and Church. The impact of cultural shifts on our understanding of marriage and family life is unprecedented. Indeed, all matters in life and faith are being examined, even challenged. That's not all bad. Re-examination of assumptions often leads to clearer and better understood convictions, even if the process can be frightening and upsetting.

As Christians and members of MU, we follow, and find our identity in the One who is “the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) On that foundation, we seek to examine the issues before us with charity and grace. This is especially important as our explorations and conversations lead us to occasions of agreement as well as disagreement. We pray that in the processes and results of our discussions our attitudes, actions and words give glory to God and further the cause of Christ in marriage and family life.

May God bless you as you explore this site, and in every aspect of your life, now and always.
