Breathe New Life In Us
NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2012
THURSDAY, MAY 31 – SUNDAY, JUNE 3

ST. PAUL’S UNIVERSITY, OTTAWA

As your Conference Co-Ordinator for the 2012 Mothers’ Union National gathering, I am thrilled to announce that St. Paul’s University has been booked for our event. Mark the dates May 31 to June 3 on your calendars NOW, book vacation time and start saving those airmiles to make the trek to the Nation’s Capital in 2012 because I want you to come!

St. Paul’s is a terrific spot for our conference, especially because of its size. It is a small theological school and there are only two buildings. The residence is located across a parking lot from the single main building that has everything we require: cafeteria, meeting rooms, auditorium, and, best of all.....a beautiful large CHAPEL!! Therefore.......NO HILLS!! And we don’t need to bus to any other locale for any of the conference events—yahoo!!!

Downtown is only a ten minute bus ride away so if one chooses to go shopping or to a museum during free time, you don’t have to go far. There’s likely to be a bus tour around the city if you want the ‘overall view’ of Ottawa. Free hours could also be spent walking or biking along the beautiful Rideau Canal which is two short blocks from St. Paul’s.

St. Paul’s seems absolutely ideal to me as a locale for all that M.U. FELLOWSHIPPING and I certainly hope you will all agree after you’ve seen it.

Hope to see you there!

THE BIENNIAL CONFERENCE NOVEMBER 2010

The Canadian Mothers’ Union Biennial Conference took place November 4 to 6, 2010, at Rosemary Heights Retreat Centre just outside of Vancouver, BC. Twenty-eight full registrants and three day registrants gathered from all dioceses of Canada for two days of happy fellowship, worship and activities on the conference theme of Breathe New Life in Us.

Our guest speaker was Jean Price from Mary Sumner House. Although Jean holds a very sobering position of Unit Coordinator for Finance and Central Services, she is a barrel of fun and made us rock with laughter during her three presentations. She expanded our view of Mothers’ Union, made us aware of how we can sell it using common objects and urged us to tell our MU stories both global & national to entice new members.

Our four workshops which all enjoyed expanded on our theme: Circle Dance, Yoga, Healthy Living and Breathing & Singing. We had three business meetings in which we discussed the National Conference 2012, the expansion of the Make a Mother’s Day campaign and the revitalization of the Worldwide Parenting Program in Canada. Friday evening we partook of the banquet and a special conference cake and finished the evening dancing and singing.

We started and finished each day in the beautiful St. Joseph’s chapel with stunning candlelit liturgies in the Celtic tradition and the conference culminated on Saturday morning with Eucharist , expertly put together with periods of praise and silent meditation by our national chaplain.
