Katharine Myers- Conference Coordinator

Well the conference has come and gone... see the photos to share some memories. You can forward your pictures to Celia if you like. A CD would most likely be the best method and then she can decide which ones to add to the album.

We had some very positive feedback on the conference. I liked the comments regarding the tours. Although they are not essential and we could shorten the conference by removing them, I was pleased to read how many delegates made some real connections during this play time. I had several comments on how important it was for us to play together and enjoy ourselves while touring the local area of the conference.

I must admit I really enjoyed the photos of Canada's newest Anne of Green Gables gilrs! I was part of the trip where our World Wide President was perched on the bow of the ship as Celine Deon's theme song "My heart will go on" from the Titanic played over the sound system. She was a great sport!

And we can't forget the girls that braved the spring water to kayak as their friends filled up on "sticky buns" or the people that chose to stay behind and prepare for the "Kitchen Party". Everyone had the opportunity to walk the local nature trail and enjoy New Brunswick's wildlife.

Our time was well spent; we made use of the University chapel first thing each day and last event each evening where the Chaplain led us in worship. From the business meeting to our meals ni the cafetaria tot he assorted workshops our day are filled with activity and the opportunity to share with fellow members.  The University I thought was great host with the buildings being as close as possible and easy access for most travelers. Nova Scotia is close by and the area is well served by the train and air.

Katharine Myers will be coordinating the next conference so please send her any ideas you may have regarding an outing for the next conference.

St Mark's Ottawa

St Mark's Ottawa - Family Day - November 25 - Reign of Christ the King
St Mark's, Ottawa, is concerned about becoming an 'aging' church, and in recent years experienced a decline in young families. However, on November 25, 2007, St Mark's was alive with the sound of many children. St Mark's Mothers' Union (MU) group had organized a Family Reunion, inviting families, who had had their children baptized in the past ten years, to celebrate their Baptism and the Reign of Christ the King. Fourteen young families, over 50 people, were part of this joyous occasion. Young people read the lessons and shared the prayers of the people. The rafters were raised with children's voices, singing 'Joy is a flag flown high' , parading around the church waving flags and wearing crowns. The celebration was followed by lunch provided by MU. Halleluiah - praise ye the Lord .... the King is in Residence here
